Due to many many factors, including me undertaking Further Studies, Family commitments and outside employment, I have taken a rather difficult decision to completely discontinue the Custom Skin Service I have offered for the last 7 years.. this was not a decision taken lightly, and I apologise to anyone affected by it.

This is effective immediately, however I would like to assure those who are currently in the queue or have skins underway that thier jobs will be finished asap.

However no new Custom Skins will be undertaken nor quoted on.

Many Thanks!

Kim Ritchie

The only person I would recommend is Ehren from ipbforumskins.com - He is excellent.

Some of the newer (to skinning) people might be great as well, however I can't personally vouch for them.

Thanks Kim,

Your referral means a lot. I remember when you made my custom skin years ago, you implimented some neat ideas that were ahead of their time and are now typical. I just wish you could squeeze out one more. :D

Sad day for IPB owners. I checked out the site you recommended, not even close to your quality!

Hehe, I'm not trying to keep Kim doing custom skins, but I can vouch that no one will ever beat her skinning ability. http://www.skinbydragonfly.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/naughty.gifhttp://www.skinbydragonfly.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/wub2.gif

I just want to clarify that I am only discontinuing the CUSTOM skins.. that is the one off jobs sold only once to a client.

Thank you to all those who have PM'd me offering their support and sadness to see me go... but I do have to say... I am not dead yet!!! LOL I have no plans at this stage to completely get out of the skinning business, however this is dependant on the market picking up a bit, at the moment pre-made skin sales are the lowest they have ever been in the 7 years I have been doing this..and they are also the cheapest they have ever been in that time and conversely the workload to produce a skin is now probably 50x what it was back when I started.

Glad you will still be selling pre-made skins like Rudolph and Club (at least for awhile). Hope there will be a new one out in a few months.

Yes - really sorry to hear this. Your design skills and skins for Invision have been far and above anything else available. The custom skin you created for my site has been awesome - the attention to detail shows off the quality.

The ones we have to blame for this is IPB Inc, no skinner can keep up with all the changes they implement every month or so, and with 3.1.0 soon coming yet another load of fixes to write to fix skins already purchased.

People are starting to get very annoyed with IPB 3's constant battle with VBullitin to the detriment of its customers. :( :(

Has IPS lost lots of customers to VB yet? If folks haven't left I bet they will soon!

It's actually the other way around. vB is currently losing a lot of customers to IPS. The pre-sales forum at IPS is filled with questions and comments. vB is in terrible shape at the moment. Their new version isn't at all what users expected it to be, and all the original developers have left and been replaced with "Internet Brands" developers.

Thanks for the info Logan. I'll have another member of this board who may move her board to VB read this thread. Maybe she can save her money.
