The latest versions of the Blogs, Gallery etc are different, TOTALLY different to the previous versions.. do NOT upgrade your Blogs or Gallery, unless you have to, the skins are NOT built for these new versions.

The only interim measure you can take is to revert all templates that have been changed. (they have a red dot next to them in the templates list) this will give you the IPB default code... which means the skins will be usable, however they will not be pretty as the IPB default skin is not the same as my skins.

I am in the process of rebulding all the skins to be compatible, however this process takes time and cannot be achieved immediately IPS totally change things.

When IPS releases IPB 3.1 (whenever that will be) will it mess with the skins, too? If so then I think I may just keep IPB 3.0.4 and whatever version of the gallery that came with it (version 3.0 I think).

Good luck with fixing all those skins.

We do not ever develop for RC's Beta etc.. 7 years of doing this has taught us that IPS WILL change things along the way, so we do not make changes for development versions.

I fully understand that
But after waiting 4 weeks or so for the final versions to be released, after these issues were raised.
Its a bit disapointing to read such news.

You were not obliged to upgrade the blogs or gallery, there are no security or other concerns with the existing versions, IPS have just changed the layout. I have to say that I think I made it pretty clear at the time you first asked that I would not even begin to look at them until they were final... After which the skins need to be recoded to look pretty - anyone who installed betas/rc's does so at their own risk even IPS advise of this before you upgrade.

Now that the Gallery and Blogs have gone Final, I have advised that anyone upgrading now also does so at their own risk knowing that the skins will not be compatible for a little while as I intend to not just fix the issues created by the new component version, but to also rebuild the skins completely.

As explained above, there is a work-around to the Blogs and Gallery latest versions causing issues, so the blogs/gallery and skins are still usable, just not as pretty as they could be - if you have any problems with the reverting process, please raise a new topic in the support forums.

Good luck Kim. I'm not upgrading for a long time anyway!

LOL, I wish I had seen this thread before upgrading. :imstupid:

At least a solution, after a fashion, exists.
